Hello March! I know it’s late but still, I want to welcome March with warmhearted!
The first week of March is very busy. In early March I had to drive for 4 hours to my village and help my mother get ready to welcome Nyepi Day. Have you heard about Balinese New Year called Nyepi Day or Silence Day?
Nyepi is the most unique date on the Balinese calendar, found nowhere else in the world other than on this enchanting little island. Everyone must remain inside their homes/villas/hotels without any disturbances โ this means no traveling, transport, work, sound, or even light. In short, itโs pure bliss. The main restrictions are no lighting fires (and lights must be kept low); no working; no entertainment; no traveling; and, for some, no eating at all. The whole island shuts down for a full 24 hours, and the streets are off-limits to everyone.
After Nyepi, we had a family gathering for two days and I got my 3rd vaccine on Sunday (unplanned)! I felt a little feverish and achy so I postponed going back to the city. I’m driving back into town today (Monday) morning and can only find time to touch up on my blog and all my other work today. What a busy week to welcome the month of March, isn’t it?
