Happy International Women’s Day 2022!
Women are invincible, strong, and powerful.
Every 8th March we celebrate the social, economic, cultural, and political achievements of women all over the world. Whether she’s an engineer, economist, housewife, teacher, or pioneer, women have been making the world a better place with their belief and infinite strength.
This year’s theme, according to the United Nations, is ‘Gender equality today for a sustainable tomorrow.’ And here are some ways to celebrate International Women’s Day:
Set up a coffee date with a woman in your network
The best way to get inspired or learn something new is through a simple conversation. Plan a get-together with your best friends or set up a virtual coffee date. Don’t let pandemics come in between your friendship. Do all the things that make each one of you happy. Have a chat about career, self-care, daily struggles, feminist issues, or other topics of personal interest. Order each other’s favorite dishes and just chill.
Support women-owned businesses
Supporting businesses that are owned/operated by a woman or woman helps contribute to equal economic empowerment, representative products, and a more prosperous economy overall.
I have a few translator groups on WhatsApp and we congrats each other on Women’s Day. Most of the translators that I know are women who love working from home while taking care of their children. They’re so lovely and work hard to live their life. Support your fellow translator and freelancer as well by thanking them for their work or if you plan to hire a translator/interpreter, pay them well (don’t negotiate below standards rate).

If you are going to pamper yourself, the best way to do so is by buying products from women-owned businesses. Plan a fun shopping date with your friends – window shop, switch up your wardrobe, and more. These past few months, I went to Etsy to buy digital products. Support bloggers or other creators by buying their products, sharing their products on social media, and spreading the word to other women in your area.
There will be more than enough women-owned businesses that you can search about online and shop from them. Buying from these brands is a great way to give back to women!

Pamper yourself
Take a day off work, treat yourself to a pleasant supper or a spa. If it’s not possible to take a day off, do whatever it takes to make your day feel more special. You can have a relaxed evening for unwinding; reading a book or running a movie marathon with your best buddies.
Amplify women musicians
I like to listen to women musicians before going to bed. Make room on your playlist for jams by musicians like:
- “I Wanna Dance With Somebody” by Whitney Houston
- “The Greatest” by Sia
- “Born This Way” by Lady Gaga
- “I’m Not A Girl, Not Yet A Woman” by Britney Spears
- “Run the World (Girls)” by Beyoncé
- “Confident” by Demi Lovato
- “Roar” by Katy Perry
- “Who Says” by Selena Gomez
- “Girl on Fire” by Alicia Keys
- “Scars To Your Beautiful” by Alessia Cara
- “Love Myself” by Hailee Steinfield
- “Rockabye” by Clean Bandit ft. Anne-Marie
- “Speechless” by Naomi Scott
- “This Is Me” by Keala Settle
Acknowledge the awesome women in your life
A few simple words of love can go a long way in lifting someone up and motivating them to keep going. Perhaps you admire certain qualities about them and don’t say enough. Whether it’s your mother, grandmother, sister, daughter, or friend – send a text, call, or video call an important woman in your life to let them know how amazing they are.
While you’re at it, write a few words of love for yourself! Try writing down the things you love about yourself; you deserve to be celebrated.
Not many people are aware that International Women’s Day is not specific to any country or group. The day belongs to women all over the world. We all should play our part in bringing gender equality, so let us celebrate and increase the visibility of women’s achievements!
I wish a very Happy Women’s Day to all the ladies out there!
