Anxiety can be a difficult problem to overcome, but it’s possible to take back control through the power of positive thinking. I believe that there are simple strategies that focus on changing any negative thought patterns that lead to everyday anxiety and replacing them with more productive ones. Let’s learn how to overcome anxiety using positive thoughts.
Acknowledge Your Anxiety
To learn how to overcome anxiety and combat stress, it is essential to acknowledge the fact that you are feeling anxious.
Instead of trying to ignore it or pretend that nothing is wrong, take a few minutes to recognize your anxious feelings.
Once you have accepted that you are feeling this way, look for any patterns in your anxiety and identify the associated triggers so that you can keep track of them in the future.
What I love to do when feeling anxious is to journal. Journaling is a powerful tool to understanding where your stress and anxiety is coming from. Because I love writing and it is my happy place, it is easy for me to acknowledge my anxiety and know where it is coming from.
Soften Your Self Talk
Once you’ve identified the triggers for your anxiety, it’s time to start engaging in positive self-talk.
Anxiety can be reduced by using words and phrases that are encouraging and uplifting such as “I can do this” or “I am strong enough to handle this situation.”
Positive affirmations like these can help to shift your focus away from stressful thoughts, allowing you to better manage the anxiety and re-center yourself on more productive tasks.
I have dealt with stress before and I’m sure you too deal with it every day. I have a list of positive affirmations I am keen on sharing in this article so keep reading.
Identify and Assess Symptoms of Stress & Anxiety
Stress and anxiety can manifest in many ways, both physically and mentally. It is important to identify such symptoms as difficulty concentrating, feeling overwhelmed, lack of sleep, irritability, or restlessness.
Once these symptoms have been identified, it is best to take the time to assess what factors may have contributed to the onset of these feelings to start actively combating them.
Create a Stress Management Plan
Learning how to overcome anxiety using positive thoughts includes creating a stress management plan. It is to create a proactive plan that can be easily incorporated into your daily life.
Aim to write down positive thoughts and goals while also taking practical steps towards achieving them.
Regularly check in with yourself to ensure that progress is being made, goals are met, and most importantly, that you are feeling good.
In addition to actively engaging in positive thinking, take time out for self-care activities such as exercise, reading, or meditation each day as they can help put your mind at ease.

Turn Negative Thinking into Positive Thinking
When it comes to avoiding a downward spiral of negative thinking that can lead to anxiety and depression, it’s essential to learn how to turn negative thoughts into positive ones.
Start by recognizing all the good things in your life, no matter how small they may be.
Remind yourself daily that you can accomplish great things, plus practice gratitude often!
An excellent way to counter negative thoughts is to tell yourself what you would say to a friend or family member during times of stress, then use those words as the voice for positivity within your own mind. This always works for me. It might not be the easiest way, but it works every time.
Positive affirmation examples for anxiety relief
Here it is. I would love to share my positive self-talk list. I believe that part of learning how to overcome anxiety using positive thoughts is to have a list of positive affirmations and incorporate them into your daily life.
Positive thinking is a powerful tool for overcoming anxiety. To start, try repeating positive affirmations such as “I am enough” or “I can do this” to yourself.
Additionally, writing down your emotions and thoughts about them can help you identify negative patterns that may be causing your anxiety.
After doing this, look for ways to challenge those patterns with more positive and uplifting thoughts.
Finally, find ways to refocus your energy when feeling anxious by engaging in activities like yoga or guided meditation. With practice, these techniques can help you develop a more positive outlook and decrease feelings of anxiety and fear.
Here are more examples of positive affirmations
“I am capable” or “I can accomplish anything I set my mind to”.
By shifting your mental energy away from negative self-talk and directed towards more optimistic affirmations of your capabilities, you are likely to feel more confident in your ability to handle various stressful situations.
“I forgive myself.”
Remind yourself that it’s perfectly alright to make mistakes and take a moment to introspect. Understand your feelings and be kind and understanding towards yourself. This, in turn, will foster more compassion for others as well!

This can help you maintain a sense of control over your emotions while calming your mind. Also, try visualizing a peaceful setting or location which puts your mind in a tranquil state and brings clarity to the situation.
“I release the past and embrace the present”
When we practice positive thoughts and affirmations, we can help combat anxiety. By reminding ourselves of our self-worth and allowing ourselves to take a step back from whatever is causing us stress, we can use positive thoughts such as “I release the past and embrace the present” to help ground us at the moment.
“Wherever I go, I am well”.
Anxiety can feel overwhelming and overpowering at times. One of the most effective ways to manage such emotions is to shift your thinking from negative to positive.
Fill your mind with uplifting and motivating thoughts, such as “Wherever I go, I am well.” Remind yourself of this mantra when anxiety threatens to overcome you, and focus on sending out good vibes into the world.
With consistent practice and a little patience, you will be able to break free from the negative power of anxiety!
