It’s not easy when you’re having a long and stressful day. You come home from work and you’re all out of energy. All you want to do is have a nice warm bath or, for me, have a nice sleep.
In this post, I will explain my routine for self-care after a long day working (from home or office), including taking a nice bath, taking care of your skin, and more!
There are lots of ways to take care of yourself mentally, but some of them can be more harmful in the long run, if your way is to eat sweets or something similar. It’s about finding that balance between enjoying yourself and doing it for your own benefit.
Take A Long Nice Bath
One thing I enjoy doing is taking a nice bath, especially after a long tiring day. I’m not a fan of hot water because I usually take a bath around 5-6 pm (that’s my life’s rules). I only use hot water when I feel sick.
Some of us may not have the luxury of our own bath, but a hot shower or bubble bath would still do the trick. Take the opportunity to expand your skincare routine to your entire body by including your favorite body scrub or wash. Light some scented candles or bring out the bath salts for a spalike night of pampering.
Paint workshop
I started learning to paint when I was 7 years old. In elementary school, we have art classes – I think almost every school teaches its students to paint. Painting is so much fun because we can learn a variety of colors and play with our creativity.
There are great benefits of painting, for example, it’s good for mental health, healing, therapy, and self-esteem. At the same time, painting can also help you relax and have an awesome “me” time. It’s the same feeling when you try coloring books!
If you’re someone who finds coloring or painting helps your mind stay relaxed, I truly recommend paint & sip from Merriment Atelier. Join their paint & sip workshop and they will show you how to paint and sip a glass of wine while having a great time. Paintings with small details tend to make you concentrate and you completely forget everything else. It’s a good way to self-care after a long day!

Get enough sleep
This is the most important step. You need enough physical rest in order to feel and function well the next day. If you have trouble sleeping, try to listen to soothing music (my favorite way!) or meditate.
Relax and be present
Do whatever makes you relax. Take a walk outside. Watch a TV show. While doing these things, focus on your surroundings and how your body feels instead of letting your mind wander back to the workday. Log out from your work!
To find out what relaxes you best, observe how you feel after an activity. Do 10 minutes of walking outside make you feel calmer compared to an hour of TV?
Take care of your skin
Exfoliating and applying a smooth, cold face mask can relieve your skin. Taking the time to develop a skincare routine can also make you feel more put together. To soothe your skin is to soothe your mind, so it’s worth a try after a long day. Additionally, a nighttime skincare routine is a perfect way to pamper yourself before bedtime.
Which is your favorite self-care after a long day? Do you have other recommendations? I would like to know your tips below.

Relax and be present is a great way to look after yourself after a long day, and I think it can be so hard to actually be in the moment so this is very important! Thank you for sharing x
