Christmas is coming and you’re looking to give something special to a language lover? A friend of yours just started learning a new language and you want to encourage it for her/his birthday? Don’t worry, I’ve got your back!
Picking out gifts for language lovers and learners (if you yourself don’t study languages) can be hard. One might become rather preoccupied with learning a new language; therefore, it can be a nice idea to add it to Christmas or birthday gifts.
It goes without saying that being a language lover can mean a variety of things: you might merely enjoy learning one language, become obsessed with learning numerous other languages, or simply be curious about how languages change through time. If you count language learners and enthusiasts, linguists, teachers, translators, or whatever among those you’re planning to purchase gifts for this year (or any year), I’ve got you covered.
While everyone would appreciate receiving a gift that was given with love, there are times when you truly want to show someone you care by choosing a gift that is perfect for them. This post was inspired by my personal struggles to find the perfect gift for language lovers in my life, despite the fact that I am a language enthusiast myself!
Bookmark
I’ve never seen anything hold textbooks open as well as these bookmarks do. When reading books in one of my languages or going through language workbooks, I frequently use them. There have been occasions when I purchased a new book and it didn’t come with a bookmark. Therefore, I must have a collection of my own bookmarks, right?
Journal or Notebook
Yes, it might seem like a simple and boring option. But kindly give it some thought. Writing down vocabulary, grammatical rules, and common phrases could be a terrific way to learn a language more quickly. Different people learn differently, and for some, documenting their lessons in writing helps them remember what they’ve learned.
Notebooks are also very versatile! It can be used to draft a weekly plan or a chart so that you can test the spaced repetition method. If you are taking a language course, you can use notebooks to write down all of the questions you want to ask your teacher. You might find a wonderful gift for language lovers if you simply look for a notebook with a lovely cover that relates to language learning. I believe that using dots for note-taking is the best option for language learners who might be drawing charts or diagrams.
Fine liners
A range of colored pens or fine liners helps organize notes even better than markers. I designate a separate color for each language when taking notes in multiple languages. I want to take notes in a way that makes it easy for me to quickly review them, whether I’m outlining sentences or creating mind maps.

Stationery organizer
I don’t know what it is about language learners, but my desks are always a mess. Give your language lover a stationery organizer to keep their desk organized (as well as any new pens and markers you may have given them). Shop around because there are a ton of options available online in a wide range of colors, sizes, and features.
Cookbooks in their language
Since there are so many different topics to pick from, books are a great gift idea for everyone. You can find several books on this broad topic if your friend is interested in the history of languages. But don’t worry if some of your friends prefer a specific language; there are lots of specialized books available.
It’s not simply the languages we love that make us successful language learners, which is one of their secrets. The people and their cultures are what make it. Purchasing a cookbook is a wonderful idea to give language lovers an at-home cultural and linguistic immersion where they may study and practice vocabulary in a fun, real-life setting.
Noise-canceling headphones
Noise-canceling headphones with a built-in mic will help your language learner overcome some of their biggest study challenges whether they are taking online programs or sharing a home with others. If you’re a subtitler, this also helps you to convey your media’s original message and cultural references in another language in a more efficient way.
Language planners
Because we know what we enjoy, we support language learners who run businesses here! You can print out many well-designed items from Etsy at home, get crafty with some scrapbooking materials, and create a sweet personalized gift.
Language planners are excellent gifts for language lovers who wish to stay organized and are even better than notebooks. They will be able to record their goals and weekly study schedule in a language planner. They can track each time they learn in a language planner to keep their streak!

There are some great gift ideas here and I really like the headphones. However, my favourite has to be the bookmarks!
