How is MOA’s blogging reports in 2020?
2020 has been a rough year for everyone around the world. 2020 is a fresh beginning for me; I quit my office job (before the epidemic) and am still doing the freelance translation. It was fantastic, but I need to do something other than work, read, and watch.
I started my website in June and learned everything from scratch – with no assistance from anyone. I learned a lot by doing daily research; I kept researching how to start and build my blog every day. I learned a lot about Pinterest, growing blog traffic, promoting my blog on social media, and, of course, SEO terms and stuff.
It’s really hard to do it alone – especially when you know nothing. I was learning new things every day, and I was starting to connect with other bloggers on Twitter. I’ve made numerous friends from all around the world, and it’s an AMAZING feeling!
I’ve started to publish three articles a week or so, and one of my Pinterest pins has gone semi-viral. I was getting approximately 700+ views per week on my site, which is a significant boost. This has also influenced my blog strategy. I was on the first page of Google for a specific keyword!! YAY!! This encouraged my interest in writing longer, more keyword-focused articles while also focusing more on SEO.
Here are some of MOA’s blogging reports in 2020:
Blog posts
My first blog post of 2020 was published on June 11 with 50+ Amazing Blog Name Ideas. I don’t put any posts about the introduction on my blog. My most popular blog post of 2020 is Increase Your Blog Traffic With These 12 Unique Tips – which was published on July 6. It reaches over 150+ social media shares!
The Keeping A Fresh Old Blog Posts: 4 Strategies that Work post is still on the first page of Google (till this post is published!)
Hence, as of this writing, I have 72 articles published in 2020. Of those 72, I would say 5-9 require more enhancement with additional keywords, images, and content. I am, however, working on optimizing these posts. If you’re curious about how I optimize my posts, check out this SEO guide.
Traffic:
I have been working REALLY hard to increase my monthly pageviews from the very beginning. So, as a new blogger, to reach over 13,000+ page views in 7 months is a great achievement for me!
Social Media:
Since the beginning of launching my blog back in June, I always focus and engaged more on Twitter every day. I managed to get over 1,200+ followers in 2020. And would like to get over 3,000 in 2021!
I use Instagram for personal purposes. I don’t promote my blog on my Instagram. But, for the last 3 months, I pay more attention to my feed and engagements. I do my best to consistently post at least 3 posts per week. And I’m so HAPPY to reach 850+ organic followers and interact more with fellow entrepreneurs/bloggers.
After launching my blog, I’m learning new skills such as creating Pinterest pins and how to layout my profile, etc. If you are stuck with Pinterest then I would certainly suggest checking out my articles here.
I managed to reach 100k monthly unique views before. And I don’t use Tailwind at all – manually pinned daily. However, since Pinterest’s algorithm had changed, it’s going down to 50k and now is 16k. I believe it is also because I don’t spend much time with Pinterest in the last weeks.
At the time of writing, I have 170+ followers although this doesn’t generally lead to more views on Pinterest and is way less critical a metric than it is on other social media sites.
I have had a fast start but a slow end to the year because of lots of things going on in my life but the last months have been so productive because I participated in BLOGMAS 2020 for the first time. And I did it! I finished 25 posts for my blogmas project!
I am more focused on the tasks ahead and looking forward to making more progress this year. I hope this blogging year report gives new bloggers an insight into how hard this is. I’d recommend you to go self-hosted to get more reach and if you want to monetize your blog, there are many benefits you can get from self-hosted than having a free one 🙂
