How to support bloggers you love?
Something that I always found in my blog is that my readers thank me for sharing free content that is useful, informative, and/or inspiring. I’ve been writing blogging tips since the beginning because I’ve wanted other bloggers to avoid the mistakes I’ve made.
For bloggers, sharing our journey, achievement, trial, and failure, and inspiring others is something we’re extremely passionate about, and we know other creators feel the same way.
Many people who don’t blog think it’s super easy! In fact, blogging is not just about “writing” but so so much more. Research keywords, research rankings, search engine optimization, create Pinterest images, engage on social media, understand affiliate programs, and more to get people to read it!
Blogging is REALLY hard work and the hours can be very, very long and at any stage, you’re expected to do something you’ve never done before! Like marketing, photography, designing, editing, writing, keeping up with algorithms … the list goes on and on.
So all the small things readers do, without even realizing it, really do make a huge difference to the success of a blog and the blogger’s enjoyment of running it.
So, here I am, thinking about the many ways in which my readers (whether they’re bloggers or not) help me and my blog to grow. I picked out all these helpful things that may encourage readers to do these easy things a little more to support bloggers they love.
Click the affiliate links & ads
There are many reasons why bloggers and I leave links in their blog posts. These links are there to help you. Sometimes these links are additional information that relates to what they’re talking about. These links can be affiliate links or ads.
Most bloggers work to monetize their blogs without actually taking money from their readers. They do that with affiliate marketing or selling digital products or offering their services. Basically, if you buy something through the blogger’s link, your blogging friend will get a small commission back for themselves at no extra cost to you! So, why wouldn’t you want to do that to support your favorite bloggers?
What if I don’t want to buy the item recommended? You don’t have to buy the item if you don’t like it. If you even click through and buy something else, your purchase still goes back to that blogger.
Running a blog can be very costly (hosting, email marketing, social media scheduling, blog design, etc) and the majority of bloggers do not earn anything more than a little pocket money from affiliate links and ads.
So, clicking these links does not cost you anything but it can mean the bloggers earn a little money to help keep their blog running. This is one of the best ways to support bloggers you love!
Purchase their physical or digital products
Other than affiliate links or ads, a lot of bloggers also start physical or digital products. Support both! Purchase their physical and digital products if they resonate or are related to you.
These products can be kind of expensive, but most likely more of the money goes to them. Some bloggers also have some discounts on their products and all of them are valuable products that really beneficial for you. Here are some great digital products that you need to grow your blog:
Click internal links when you visit
When visiting your favorite blogs, check and see if you can click and read one or more blog posts or pages. If you notice, most bloggers have a ‘popular posts’ section in their sidebar or a ‘related posts’ section at the bottom of posts.
By reading other posts, you already support bloggers by helping their bounce rate (the percentage of visitors that leave without clicking on another page within the blog), which is a stat that bloggers want to keep low.
Subscribe their email
By subscribing to your favorite blog, you will always know what your blogger’s post is and when. Everyone has their preferred way of keeping up with their favorite bloggers, which means you will never miss a post, even if their latest post. This subscription box is easy to spot on someone’s blog; look for it and sign up to post by email.
As a blogger who loves to read and receive freebies, this is my preferred way of keeping up with my favorite blogger and making sure that I support them by reading their posts or leaving a comment on their blog. I put my inbox as my to-do list priority and I always check it every day. Support bloggers you love by subscribing to their emails!
Recommend to friends
If you see or hear someone mentioning something along the lines that your favorite blogger is an expert on, send them to your friend. Most people love to work with people who come recommended. Spreading the word is spreading the audience!

Follow, like, comment, and engage with content
Have you left comments on your favorite bloggers?
Without engagement, a blog is essentially lifeless. Frankly, if brands see that a blog gets a lot of engagement then they’re more likely to want to work with them because that blog is a living, breathing, appreciated, in other words.
So comments actually support bloggers as well as make their day, so if you’ve never left comments on your favorite blogs before please start now. Taking your 20-30 seconds spent writing one is all the thanks they need for the many hours that go into creating free content in a blog post.
When you leave a comment on a blogger’s post, that post gets boosted. All bloggers’ posts will be public, so when you boost the signal, even people who don’t follow the blogger will be able to see the post!
When commenting, you can also offer suggestions of topics that the blogger didn’t have to think of and send a compliment which will make the blogger feel appreciated and work harder and better.
Additionally, following, liking, and commenting on social media posts makes your favorite bloggers more visible. Twitter, Instagram, and Facebook use algorithms to determine what posts to show, when, and to whom. Meaning, content is promoted that is engaged by the community which means it’s probably good content worthy of being promoted.
Any time you see your favorite bloggers’ content on social media, it’s greatly appreciated if you give it ‘like’, retweet, leave a comment, or even share it on your own social media or with a group you’re part of.
When brands consider working with a blogger, the thing that they always look at is the follower counts. They want to know how many people follow the blogger on each platform to evaluate whether or not it could be a profitable partnership. And that’s why bloggers need those numbers. These numbers also show brands that the bloggers have a far reach!
Read and share their posts
One of the blogging secrets that most bloggers won’t tell you is that an astounding amount of time and love goes into every post. I myself need more than five hours more to write 1,500+ words because I have to research, write, edit, design, grammar check – and also go back to update my old posts to make them as fresh again as my latest posts.
With all that effort going into the contents, please read them! Bloggers need traffic. Traffic determines income based on ads and also may make potential collaborations in the future. Traffic is monthly visits and when you’re clicking around on the site, you’re informing Google that your favorite blogs are helpful, which can help it rank higher in search engines.
On the other hand, sharing is very important for a blog post. Sharing useful information that a person may never have even thought to look for. That’s not to say that you need to share every day, but perhaps, 1-3 times a month?
You shared one of their articles that you thought was very helpful and particularly good. Twitter, Facebook, and Pinterest are bloggers’ favorite places to have shares. By sharing, articles get in front of more eyes. Every new impression is a potential new follower.
Support bloggers by donating to them
Here is the last thing, some ways creators or bloggers may love for you to support them could include:
- Support bloggers through Patreon or Paypal: this is a new way where you can donate a small amount of money to your favorite bloggers. If you see these on their blogs, don’t forget to tip them on those platforms once or even monthly.
- Buy a coffee for them: you can also donate a small amount of money or buy a coffee for your favorite bloggers. Donations like this are a great way to give back to your favorite bloggers because they don’t have to jump through extra hoops to get them. They just have to create quality and valuable content they normally would.
- Shop their wishlist on Amazon: if your favorite bloggers have an Amazon wishlist or post about it, you can see if gifting something on the list is a way you’d love to show support!
There are numerous ways to support bloggers! Most of it comes down to just enjoying and engaging with their content. It’s easy, right?
With everything that is changing, starting from algorithms, it’s challenging for bloggers or creators to have their quality content seen!
So, just doing a few of these 8 ways will make your favorite bloggers feel happy and supported. And for my fellow bloggers, you can pick a few of these ways that you want readers to support you.

This is such a great post! There are so many things we can do for free to support someone, even just leaving an encouraging comment like I’m doing now! I’m definitely going to be sharing this!

Great post!
Can’t agree more! I invested so much time and effort so it will be so appreciated if people can help others by doing these easy small things ^^ Thank you for reading, Jess!
This is such good advice. I often feel disheartened at the level of support I give others but don’t get in return. But I think there are so many great ways to support others and it is so important to help each other grow x
I feel the same as well! There are so many bloggers and creators out there so we need to support and help each other to grow 🙂

Thank you for your feedback, Michelle! When people support me, I feel really appreciated and it makes me want to share more and more 😀
Hi this was an important post to be out there just to remind us to do the support. I think this is a really important subject that is giving us the freedom to choose on how we support our favorites. And to be honest although I knew the contribution of clicking ads I was always excited to do the reading and I was mostly focused on subscribing to what I like and live my thoughts about the content. You just reminded me to take few seconds and click in those links just for kindness and support to others. Thank you for sharing this post.
Hi, Aphila! Yeah, I wonder what should I write to support bloggers and creators out there so I decided to write this one. With this kind of situation, we definitely have to help each other, even only with these small easy things. I love reading content that really meant for me and my life, as long I can contribute, I’ll glad to help! Thank you for sharing your thoughts with me, Aphila xxx
Thank you for reading, Fiona xxx

Rosie
I’m glad that you love this article. I hope too! Thank you, Rosie x
Love this! A great reminder of how we can help each other.
Thank you, Sarah!
These are some great suggestions! I had someone ask me to create an Amazon wishlist for our pets a little while ago. Honestly, I LOVED seeing them get something fun in the mail far more than receiving something myself – after all, the blog is really about them! Right? The couple gifts that they have received really brightened my day. Remember, it’s not about the value, even the smallest little gesture can have a big impact!
Definitely agree with you, Britt! Even doing the smallest thing can have a big impact on others. Thank you for stopping by, Britt xxx
YES TO ALL OF THIS!!! I wish more of my friends even *read* my blog because… I could share all of this and they still wouldn’t know about it because they never even care about my website to begin with :/ I think I only have 3 friends outside of immediate family who have paid any attention to my work… and I’ve been doing this (full-time, mind you.. it’s my career) for over 5 years now! Tough stuff!
You’re doing so great, Steph! I respect bloggers so much because I know they put a lot of hard work into their blog 🙂 I just started blogging this June without anyone knowing – because I knew my family won’t support even my friends, so yeah I’m alone! But I’m so happy to find many blogger friends here who read and support me (but still sometimes I need some ‘real’ friends of mine here to support me)! Blogging is tough stuff! and you’re an amazing and strong blogger because you can hang in there over 5 years ^^ keep the good work, Steph! You can do it xxx
Nice post. I learned some things. Would definitely try doing more of them now.
Thank you for reading, Anita!
I think most people forget on helpful it can be for a blogger when you click their affiliate links! I know I click on others links because I know how much it means for someone one to help you earn a few bucks! I just wish others would do the same! Thanks for sharing.
Me, too! And click ads also very helpful for bloggers, it doesn’t cost one anything – just one click and that’s it! Thank you for reading, Lanae xxx
It’s always a good thing to support your favorite blogger. It’s so true that it’s easy to do but just clicking the links and sharing and commenting.

Awh lovely post! It really doesn’t take much to support another blogger sometimes and you’re right, a comment or a purchase through their affiliate links could make their day.
Thanks, Jen! Love it when I receive comments on my blog 😀
These are all such lovely ideas. I like the internal link idea! This is something I need to do more often tbh. Thanks for the reminder.

Thank you so much, Claire 😀
These are lovely ways to support bloggers, and it’s great that we can all support each other for free or very little cost, and still be helping each other make money in the process. I hadn’t realised how helpful it was to click on internal links – I’ll be aiming to do that more from now on!
Clicking on internal links really helps reduce the bounce rate 😀 Thanks so much for reading, Sophie x
I love this post! Let’s support each other!
