Things To Put On a Calendar
Do you often find yourself overwhelmed by the hustle and bustle of daily life? Do appointments, deadlines, and events seem to slip your mind?
Let’s face it, adulting comes with its own set of challenges. I love being adult (sometimes) because I have say in anything I want. From work meetings to coffee catch-ups, remembering it all is like trying to recall your WIFI password after a night of Netflix binge-wathing (tricky, right). That’s where a trusty calendar steps in, becoming your sidekick in the quest for organized bliss.
So, what are the things you should be tossing onto that calendar to make the most of it?
In this blog post, we’ll explore the essential things to include in your calendar to help you stay organized, productive, and in control of your life.
Appointments and Meetings
The most obvious items to add to your calendar are appointments and meetings. These could be personal health check-ups, professional meetings, or even coffee dates with friends. Assign specific times for these events, and set reminders to ensure you’re punctual.
Work Deadlines
If you’re a student or a professional, work deadlines are a must. Whether it’s a project submission, report due date, or a significant assignment, adding these to your calendar helps you manage your time effectively and ensure you meet your commitments.
Birthdays and Anniversaries
Don’t rely solely on Facebook reminders to remember important dates. Oh, and I don’t really use Facebook for years. I use calendar to remember important dates. Add birthdays and anniversaries of your loved ones to your calendar. You can set up recurring events to ensure you’re always prepared to celebrate.
Holidays and Vacations
Planning a trip or just need a break from your routine? Mark your holidays and vacations on your calendar well in advance. This not only helps you mentally prepare but also ensures you don’t schedule work-related commitments during your downtime.
Social Events
Keep track of social events, parties, gatherings, and other engagements that are a part of your social life. These events are essential for maintaining connections and can be a source of joy and relaxation.
Bill Due Dates
Avoid late payments and possible penalties by adding bill due dates to your calendar. Whether it’s your rent, utility bills, or credit card payments, staying on top of your finances is crucial.
Daily Routines
Incorporating your daily routines into your calendar can help you establish a sense of structure. From your morning workout to evening reading time, allocate time slots for your daily habits.
Important Reminders
Don’t rely on your memory alone for essential tasks. Use your calendar to set reminders for tasks like checking your car’s oil, replacing smoke detector batteries, or renewing your driver’s license.
Project Milestones
If you’re working on long-term projects, break them down into smaller milestones and set deadlines for each. This approach ensures steady progress and keeps you motivated.
Travel Plans
If you’re planning a trip, create a separate calendar for your travel itinerary. Include flight details, hotel bookings, sightseeing plans, and reservation confirmations. This dedicated calendar can be a lifesaver when you’re on the go.

Health and Fitness
Prioritize your well-being by scheduling workouts, yoga sessions, and healthy meal plans in your calendar. It’s an excellent way to maintain a balanced and active lifestyle.
Family Time
Quality time with your family is invaluable. Ensure you allocate time for family dinners, game nights, or special outings. It strengthens bonds and creates lasting memories.
Personal Goals
Whether you’re aiming to read more books, learn a new language, or start a side project, set specific times on your calendar to work toward your personal goals. This ensures you dedicate time to self-improvement.
Meal Planning
Planning your meals in advance can save you time and money. Allocate time for grocery shopping, meal prep, and cooking. It’s a healthy practice for both your diet and your wallet.
Household Chores
Keep your living space in order by scheduling time for household chores like cleaning, laundry, and maintenance. A well-maintained home contributes to a more relaxed and productive life.
Self-Care
Never underestimate the importance of self-care. Allocate time in your calendar for activities that help you unwind, such as a bubble bath, meditation, or simply some quiet time with a good book.
Professional Development
If you’re focused on career growth, set aside time for professional development. This could involve attending webinars, workshops, or furthering your education.
Seasonal Activities
Depending on the season, there are specific activities and holidays to look forward to. From winter holidays to summer vacations, adding these to your calendar creates a sense of anticipation and joy.
Volunteer Work
If you’re involved in volunteer work or charitable activities, include the dates and times in your calendar. Giving back to the community is fulfilling and enriches your life.
Project Deadlines
In addition to work-related deadlines, consider personal projects. Whether it’s renovating your home, writing a book, or launching a blog, set milestones and deadlines to stay on track.
Special Celebrations
Apart from birthdays and anniversaries, mark special celebrations like graduation ceremonies, awards nights, or achievements to honor those you care about.
Weather-Dependent Activities
Some activities are best enjoyed when the weather is right. Plan outdoor adventures, gardening, or stargazing nights based on the season and weather conditions.
Health Check-Ups
Regular health check-ups are crucial for your well-being. Don’t forget to schedule appointments with your doctor, dentist, and other healthcare providers.
Social Media Planning
If you’re active on social media for personal or professional reasons, schedule posts, updates, and interactions in your calendar to maintain an engaging online presence. Ensure your calendar includes a list of emergency contacts, including family members, friends, and important service numbers.
Emergency Contacts
A well-organized calendar is your key to managing your time effectively and leading a fulfilling life. Whether you prefer a digital calendar or a traditional paper one, ensure it’s easily accessible and that you regularly review and update it.
Remember, your calendar is a reflection of your life’s priorities, commitments, and aspirations. By populating it with these essential items, you’ll find yourself more in control, less stressed, and better prepared to tackle the challenges and enjoy the opportunities that life offers. So, grab your calendar and start filling it with what matters most to you.

This is such a great post, I am a person who loves Planners but even so, there were a few things here that even I missed! The two things I make a point to put on the Calendar is self-care and household chores. Every Friday I do a Self Care routine and during the week I schedule 3 things to clean so that on the weekend I can relax.
Thanks a lot, Marie! Definitely agree with add self-care and household cores. Those are something that I often forget haha
I love having a diary/calendar; I need help remembering things like birthdays! x

You’re right, Lucy! I’m a forgetful person, so having calendar def help me 😀
I’ve been putting daily routine items on my calendar, and that helps to not forget. Great idea to put health & fitness items there too. I’ll have to try that, then maybe my exercise regimen won’t be so hit-or-miss.
Love to hear that, Jane! There are so many things I want to add to my calendar so I won’t miss important things 🙂
