[A collaboration post – all thoughts are my own.]

I’ve acquired a few self-employed personal qualities over the years that help me live a happier, more positive life. Like how a beautiful flower gently grows, these attributes must be developed over time.
I believe that these character traits are not something you just happen to have or that you get by accident or luck. One step and one day at a time, we make small, regular changes that accumulate over the years of our lives. For instance, I have trouble talking to people or expressing my opinions, but I’m trying to get better at it.
The key lesson here is this: if you want something more, you must work hard to earn it. One excellent strategy to lead oneself in the right direction is to work hard to leave your house every day as your best self. The more you do each day, the more success will come back to you.
Here are some of the personal qualities that cultivate success in my daily life as a self-employed person.
Self-reliability
How frequently have you made promises to yourself that you would complete a task on a specific day, in a week, or in a month only to either forget about it or put it off until a later time?
I was used to not telling my parents even the slightest feelings I had because I had always been left alone since I was a little child. Growing up, I become more of an introvert, and in high school and college, I relied more on myself emotionally to get through the tough times. Because I know that I can only rely on myself to persevere, I constantly motivated myself despite how stressful the task or situation was.
Patience
One of the hardest personal qualities on this list to develop is definitely this one. When someone succeeds almost instantly, we refer to them as an “overnight success.” However, we frequently fail to realize that what seemed like an overnight success to us likely took the person years or even decades to achieve.
I believe I’ve had a good deal of patience since I was little. I favor working comfortably and slowly. I’m not the type to rush into things. You must practice patience if you want to succeed and be truly happy in life. Your ability to see clearly enough to solve your life’s difficulties will come only through patience.
If you lack patience, you’re prone to develop the “shiny object syndrome,” where you constantly chase after the next big thing without committing to anything for the time necessary to achieve your goals.

Courage
I see people not achieving their potential much too frequently because they are terrified. They’re wary of taking the chance that they might fail at something, especially if it happens in front of others, at work, or on social media, rather than of progress. Because of this fear, they are unable to commit fully to their goals and accomplish them.
I was hesitant to offer my translation services at first because I was still a student and had no professional experience at the time. I encouraged myself to keep applying, sent my resume to various agencies in need of a translator, and took the tests they required.
There are obviously more situations of me failing to pass because I lack experience. However, there is one client who has been a regular up till now and saw my potential as a novice. We’ve been working together for years, and only this month I finished one of their large projects: translating a contract. I’m glad I had the courage to apply at the time, despite my fear of getting turned down.
Passion
You need a fire inside of you to drive you forward as you work for your objectives. One of the most crucial personal traits is passion. Because you know what’s waiting for you on the other side, passion motivates you to take on the next challenge. Passion follows success so frequently that it is practically a need for the equation.
Sometimes it’s difficult to find a passion. Before you find something that truly gets you moving, you have to try a few different things. However, you’ll know when you’ve found it because you’ll be motivated every day to solve the problems and challenges brought on by that passion. When you are passionate about something, it motivates you to learn and become a better person on a daily basis.

Communication
Although communication is one of the essential personal qualities you need on a regular basis, I’m aware that I’m not that good when it comes to communication. Somehow, I just find it difficult to explain or express something to someone. And chances are that I’ll struggle to relate to them. When issues do occur between you and another person, it will be harder to resolve them as a result.
Understanding what someone isn’t saying and responding correctly are both essential parts of communication. Respect and trust almost always follow when two people establish the right communication paths. Communication is crucial because it enables you to truly connect with others and understand them on a deeper level.
Optimism
You’ll be more likely to handle challenging circumstances positively if you believe that you can overcome obstacles and succeed. You’ll be able to think critically and come up with creative ideas as a result.
Finding answers will probably take longer and require less creativity if you approach a challenge with a closed mind. You’ll probably struggle if you have an issue and try to rigidly force a solution on it. Keep a positive mindset and be open. Be optimistic, but sprinkle in a little bit of realism as well.
Self-confidence
You must believe in your own skills. To accomplish your goals, you must have confidence in your abilities. Be honest with yourself and have confidence that you’re going to use your special personal qualities to achieve success.
Having a strong support system will also boost your confidence. When you stumble, the right people will be by your side to encourage you and be a constant reminder of who you are.
Don’t worry, though, if you don’t currently possess this level of confidence. Remember that not all of these qualities come naturally to us. The goal is to pick a few personal qualities to work on over time. With effort, you may develop this confidence.
You can achieve success in life by showcasing all of the above personal qualities. Don’t worry if you don’t have some of these at the moment. Every one of these personal qualities can be improved through mindful practice, though some will come more naturally than others.
Never forget that no one ever sets out to be average. When you don’t try to be better than average, when you don’t use your abilities and effort to improve, you end up being just average. Define your goals and the steps, skills, and personal qualities that will help you get from where you are to where you want to be.

Being self-employed is one of the hardest things. It’s like a rollercoaster. I try my best to get all these qualities in check, it gets tough sometimes but it’s always worth it for me. Great post x
