Happiness is one of the most basic human emotions. We have emotions like fear, love, hate, happiness, and courage, and these are what make us human.
In the modern world of conception about happiness, it is an inside job. It is something natural or something to be deserved, and we can pursue happiness in our free time. So, here are some ways to add happiness to your life.
Practice positivity
This is one of the major qualities of a happy person that makes them exceptional. Positivity creates resilience, which enables you to face a certain crisis in your life. Be aware that setbacks are a basic component of life. Instead of giving up hope when faced with a dilemma, choose to look on the bright side. Focus on resolving the matter at hand. As an optimist, you can cope better with stress and live your life happily.
Celebrate your wins
No matter how small or big your achievements are, they are worth celebrating. Give yourself some recognition for every wins you get. At the end of the day, give thanks and list the things that made you happy. By doing this, you will stay motivated.
Accept imperfection
Say goodbye to perfection and accept imperfection instead. Free yourself from the impossible-to-reach, moving target of perfection and embrace all imperfections. This way, you can live a more authentic life. Start living your awesome, authentic self—free from the standards of society and settling for being imperfectly perfect.
Self-help book authors have said it. Perfection is the worst enemy of success, productivity, and a fulfilled life. Take their advice and acknowledge the fact that nothing is perfect.
Manifest things into your life
You can manifest pretty much anything into your life to add happiness to your cup of emotions. Manifest money, health, joy, success, and other good things into your life. The truth is that happiness is a choice, and you have the power to manifest it in your life.
Start with daily affirmations. The first thing you should do after waking up is put your hand on your heart, close your eyes, and say these words: “I attract happiness into my life. I attract good things easily, and I am a magnet of joy and positivity.” Believe in your words and you shall have them. That is the law of attraction for you.
Spend time with nature
I was scrolling through Facebook the other day and came across a meme saying, “In the old days, the internet was a way to escape from reality.” But now, nature is the only escape from the internet. I had to stop scrolling, screenshot the meme, and share it with friends.
In today’s age of high technology, life can get pretty stressful and overwhelming. It is easy to get disconnected from nature. And this can lead to unhappiness for studies have shown that connection to nature is linked to our happiness. Connection with nature can be the best solution to improving your relationships, health, and overall well-being.
Value Me-Time more
The key to preventing getting exhausted from the hustles and bustles of life is to take some time away. Me-time is a must for adding happiness to your life. Know when to stop and spend time with yourself. Spending time alone allows you to recharge your batteries and reboot your brain, preparing you for the next day.

Surround yourself with people who would help you go higher
Several happy people aspire to become better than they already are. To accomplish this, they should surround themselves with people who can challenge them and motivate them to work harder in life. Believe that by having the right circle of people, you can raise your bar and land on the next level.
Chase personal growth
When happiness starts to feel out of reach, start your growth journey or get back on track. When you chase growth, you’ll improve the quality of your life, gain new perspectives, and build great connections. You can build your own community full of inspired, motivated, and empowered people. One book, one habit, one movie, or one course can change your life.

Have a vision in life
What makes a person happy is her ability to draw her vision board. She understands that without a goal, she will become disoriented. Make sure you know where you are going, and thus, set a well-defined and clear goal coupled with ways to achieve it. Your goals are their so-called North Star that guides you in life.
Having a vision adds motivation within you to do more actions and chase your dreams. And when you achieve your goals, it also adds happiness.
Discover your passion
What are you passionate about achieving? Passion fuels us and drives us to work even harder. Without passion, we tend to go into a slump. Make it a habit to do what you want on a daily basis, no matter how small it is. Don’t make any excuses. Simply do what they want in life. Naturally, it becomes a daily routine for you.
Be grateful for those people around you
Kindness and gratitude are two values you can practice to add happiness to your life. When you are working with others, your “Thank Yous” however simple brings great impacts on the lives of those who receive it. You can continuously succeed and flourish by simply being thankful for what you have at the moment. Grateful people are those with who we want to work.
Fuel your spiritual gym
As Jen Sincero described it, your spiritual gym is strengthening your badassery. It is where you exercise things such as reading self-help books, meditating, listening to powerful speakers, and journaling. To achieve happiness, you have to keep fueling your spiritual gym with these activities. You got to keep working on a regular basis and keep pushing yourself past your comfort zone and grow.
On top of my list for fueling my spiritual gym is listening to powerful speakers. I indulge myself in the clubhouse, a newly developed networking app. Join rooms that suit you and converse with motivational speakers. You can learn a lot from other people.
We all have a say in our happiness, yeah? If you’re not feeling happy, do something to improve your life. If you’re having a tough day, indulge in self-care or call a friend.
If we look back on our history, people from thousands of years ago would think that happiness is unachievable due to a lack of control over their lives and that happiness is something better left to the Gods. But things have changed, and today we can easily add happiness into our lives.
Borrow the tips stated above and implement them in your life. Because happiness gives us more freedom. We have more control over our lives, and we can achieve more in life.
How do you add happiness into your life? Do you have any tips that haven’t been mentioned above?

Great tips! Love the idea of daily affirmations and having a happiness mantra in the morning. I also try to focus on the positive things in my life, celebrate the little blessings, and do the things that make me happy.

These are beautiful tips and I love this post. As a mental health professional, I’ve seen many people struggling A LOT for the past two or so years (since the pandemic hit). So many people are having difficulties with processing all the changes happening in the world, and it gets super easy to forget to take care of ourselves. A lot of the suggestions provided are great, especially spending time in nature if/when possible (fresh air and vitamin D genuinely go a long way for many people!) and practicing positivity. I think it’s definitely necessary to acknowledge when bad or upsetting things happen, as it’s not possible to process through difficult events without acknowledging and identifying them. However, whenever possible, trying to shift focus to positive or at least rational mindsets can really improve mood over time. And, of course, if there are mental health issues getting in the way of these and the other listed tips, then seeking out help for that can truly make a difference. Thank you for sharing – lovely post!
